On June 2, 2003, at the request of local military veterans, the Town of Abingdon set aside, dedicated and designated this 13-acre tract of land as Veterans Memorial Park to be a permanent place to recognize and pay tribute to all American Military Veterans and all our servicemen and women who have given and continue to give their lives for our freedom.
The park is intended to give special recognition and tribute to those American servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, their liberty and their pursuit of happiness in order that others may be free and to give recognition and honor to all those who have served and continue to serve our nation in order to preserve our freedom.
Veterans Memorial Park is a place to express appreciation, a place of dedication, a place of education, a place of meditation and a place of inspiration.
